Overview

Think you've got a fast car? – Well come and show us. If it's got a roof you can probably race it with the LMA Euro Saloon & Sports Car Championship. We welcome most saloons, coupes and sports cars, the criteria being they should have been sold in the European Union at some time and there should be at least one road going example. This definition includes vehicles from mainstream manufacturers worldwide and also allows grey imports, personal imports, certain kit cars and most low volume makes. For 2008 over twenty different marques of cars are already registered including Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Daihatsu, Fiat, Ford, Harrier, Honda, Lancia, Lotus, Marcos, MG, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Noble, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Rover, Seat, Talbot, Tommy, Vauxhall and Volkswagen.

The championship provides a home for a wide variety of existing and purpose built competition machinery. The regulations separate vehicles into four basic categories depending on their technical specification. These categories are termed Modified, Production modified, Production and Road saloon. The championship has five classes, which consist of a mixture of vehicles built to the technical requirements of the four categories, sorted according to engine cubic capacity.

Most cars that have been built to the specific regulations for other championships will find that they slot comfortably into one of the classes according to their technical specification, and the result is an exciting and surprisingly competitive mix. Renault Clios built to previous years "Cup" regulations enjoy their own additional mini challenge, sponsored by "Mark Fish Motorsport". Also due to the number of ex Touring Cars and Vectra Challenge cars, mini challenges are expected to be included for both of these.

Class A caters for some iconic machinery such as modified cars over 3000cc, Touring cars manufactured from 1995, all DTM touring cars, forced induction mid engined two seaters, 4wd turbocharged cars as per regulations and certain GT type cars.

Class B is for modifieds up to 3000cc, but also includes older Touring cars manufactured before 1995, non turbo mid engined two seaters below 3000cc and some production specification V8's. Clio Cup and Seat Cupras also find a home in this class.

Class C allows smaller engined modifieds (up to 1750cc) to battle with Production Modifieds between 2000cc and 3450cc, Production 3500cc to 6000cc as well as mid engined two seaters up to 1600cc

Class D accepts Production Modifieds 1600cc to 2000cc and Production 2000cc to 3500cc.

Class E pits smaller engined Production Modifieds up to 1600cc, with Production cars up to 2000cc and all Road Saloon specification cars.

There is also a non-championship invitation Class F available to allow cars meeting the spirit if not the letter of the regulations to race with us on an occasional basis.

The championship visits most UK circuits and offers twenty-minute races with rolling starts and a mixture of both single and double-header events. With a registration fee of just £100 we welcome committed and occasional entrants alike and the championship enjoys sponsorship and promotion from LMA Performance Ltd., Track & Race Cars Magazine, Mark Fish Motorsport, & Whizz Stitch Embroidery.

* FIA classified cars are defined for the purpose of these regulations as all cars that have competed previously in an international event sanctioned by the FIA and been classified as GT2, NGT, GT3, GTC, WRC. Specifically excluded are GT1 classified cars and any vehicle built by Porsche Motorsport, which are not eligible for this championship

** These years relate to the Touring (BTCC, ETCC and WTCC) car specification to which the vehicle was built, and not necessarily the construction date of the actual vehicle. Vehicles entered in the up to 1994 category must comply with the technical regulations applicable to the championship that the car first raced in. If the vehicle has been modified such that it no longer complies with those regulations it shall be assumed to match the technical specification of 1995 onwards touring cars and shall be classified accordingly. It is the responsibility of the entrant to supply regulations (as applicable to the championship that the car first raced in) to the organizers if required.

All mid engined two seater cars will be assumed to comply with regulations applicable to Modified cars and will be classified accordingly. A mid engined car is defined as any rear engined vehicle where the centre of mass of the engine is located forward of the rear axle centre line
